Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club
Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club
Training is a major focus. Runners have access to UKA qualified coaches at the Tuesday track sessions at Paddington Rec in Maida Vale, along with regular hill sessions at Primrose Hill, Greenwich Hills and Hampstead Heath. These sessions are open to all levels and are designed to help athletes train with structure and purpose.
Beginners are welcome. The club offers slower paced groups for new and less experienced runners, along with running courses that help build fitness and confidence.
For triathletes, the club provides coached swim sessions in the pool, group bike rides, and an annual training trip to Lanzarote. Members can also take part in a wide range of races, including the monthly Serpentine Handicap 5K in Hyde Park. The most improved runner wins the event, which keeps it fun for athletes of all levels.
Serpentine has an active social side and encourages members to volunteer at sessions and events. New runners are invited to try a session before joining, and the club offers reduced membership fees for students, people over 65, unwaged runners and anyone under 21.
Progress Running Club
Progress Running Club
Sessions run every Tuesday. The group meets at 6 pm and heads out at 6.30 pm, offering two steady paces around 5.00 and 6.00 min/km. It’s a space where new runners feel welcomed and experienced runners stay motivated. Show up, settle in, and enjoy the run one step at a time.
London City Runners
London City Runners
The club meets at its own clubhouse on Druid Street for free road runs every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. They also host structured track sessions on Wednesdays at Southwark Park Sports and Athletics Centre, which must be booked in advance. Their social side is a big part of the experience, supported by their on site bar and a community that has sparked friendships and even marriages.
They welcome runners of all levels, though they recommend being comfortable with a continuous 5K before joining their sessions. Bags can be left at the clubhouse or track facilities, and all details for joining are available through their website.
